In 2013, C.I.R.D.E. became an articulation of the Department of Legal Studies - DSG.

The Centre aims at improving and disseminating the knowledge and study of European Law. The scientific aim is to coordinate and promote research on European Union law, also interdisciplinary and in collaboration with scholars belonging to other Departments.

To this end, C.I.R.D.E. promotes research in collaboration with other Italian and foreign universities, carries out postgraduate studies and organises advanced training courses and Master's degrees. It also offers consultancy and professional training to numerous public and private bodies.

The Centre relies on the professional expertise of the University of Bologna and on the collaboration of national and international scholars. It works in synergy with numerous officials and experts from the European Union institutions.
