INTERDEPARTMENTAL RESEARCH CENTRE ON EUROPEAN LAW

The Interdepartmental Research Centre on European Law (C.I.R.D.E.) has been active within the University of Bologna since 1991.
Before the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty the Centre was operating under the acronym C.I.R.D.C.E. (Interdepartmental Research Centre on EC Law).
Its main aim is to develop and spread knowledge relating to European Union Law.
In pursuing its mission, C.I.R.D.E. promotes research in collaboration with other Italian and foreign universities, offers graduate courses and organises an MA programme.
Moreover, it provides professional training, refresher cousres and acts as a consultant for numerous public and private entities.
The Centre comprises academics from the University of Bologna, together with national and international professionals.
In addition, it works in close contact with experts from the European Institutions and other persoanlities wordlwide.

Research Projects:
Over the past ten year C.I.R.D.E. has participated in numerous relevant research projects .

Summer School on Fundamental Rights:
The Summer School on Fundamental Rights is a 5-days full immersion course which, since 2002, is held each year in Bertinoro.
The course is organised in collaborration with King's College London and the Univerity of Strasbourg.
All seminars are held by distinguished Human Rights specialist.

Observatory on Fundamental Right in Europe:
The Observatory has been established together with Fondazione Lisli e Lelio Basso and with the MEDEL network.
Its aims is to monitor and comment the nationl, supranational and international case law concerning fundamental rights.
Most notably, the Observatory offers academics, professionals and citizens the posibility to access the latest jurisprudence on the subject matter and benefit from the commentaries submitted by selected authors.
